Stick floats

Hand Made Custom Floats

Description
Stick floats are best used in slow to medium-paced, shallow to moderately deep rivers, where a presentation of the bait is needed. They are particularly effective in gentle currents and when targeting species like roach, dace, and chub.

Targeting Specific Areas:
They allow for precise bait presentation close to the bank, under overhanging vegetation, or along the far bank, where fish may be holding.
Light Tackle:
Stick floats are often used with light lines and small hooks, making them ideal for shy-biting fish.
Wind Conditions:
A slight upstream or crosswind is preferable, as strong downstream winds can make it difficult to control the float.

How to use them:
Shotting Pattern:
The shotting pattern is crucial for a smooth, natural presentation. Small shot are often spaced evenly along the line, with the largest shot near the float.
Holding Back:
The float can be held back to slow its progress down the river, allowing the bait to drift naturally and enticingly.
Fishing on the Drop:
By lifting and dropping the float, you can explore different depths and layers of the water, which can be particularly effective in attracting fish.
