Perch Bobbers

Hand Made Custom Floats

Perch bobber floats are best used in situations where you want to suspend your bait at a specific depth in the water column, allowing you to detect bites easily and target fish in various conditions. They are particularly effective when fishing in still or slow-moving water, near structure, or when using live bait or larger baits that might sink quickly.

Suspended Bait:
Bobbers are ideal for keeping your bait suspended at a desired depth, whether it’s just below the surface or a few feet down. This is especially useful when perch are holding at a specific depth, or when you want to avoid the bait resting on the bottom.

Still or Slow-Moving Water:
Bobbers are commonly used in ponds, lakes, and slow-moving rivers where they can be presented effectively and stay in place.

Fishing Near Structure:
Bobbers can be used to present bait near structures like submerged trees, docks, or weed beds where perch often congregate.

Larger Baits:
When using live bait like minnows or worms, or larger pieces of bait like prawns, a bobber can help keep the bait from sinking too quickly, making it more appealing to perch.

Fussy Eaters:
Float fishing can be a great technique for catching perch that are being fussy, as it allows you to present the bait naturally and subtly.

Tips for using perch bobber floats:
Choose the right bobber size:
Select a bobber that is appropriate for the weight of your bait and the fishing conditions.
Adjust the depth:
Use a fishing line to adjust the distance between the bobber and your hook, ensuring your bait is at the desired depth.
Use a small weight (if needed):
If your bait is buoyant, you may not need a weight. If it’s not, a small split shot or other weight can help keep your bait down in the water column.
Consider the water conditions:
In faster currents, you may need a larger, more buoyant bobber, or a float that can be fished in a “running” style (allowing it to drift naturally with the current).
